John Herrick

Collaborative Pianist, Festival Singers

John Herrick joined the Festival Singers in the spring of 2024. Originally from the Philadelphia region, he holds degrees from West Chester University and Temple University, with additional studies at Westminster Choir College. His academic background and musical training reflect a deep commitment to and love of choral music.

Since moving to Charlotte in 2006, John has worked as a collaborative pianist and piano teacher at the Charlotte Latin School, as adjunct faculty at Wingate University, and as a piano teacher at Southern Park Music School. John served on the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network while working as the Director of Music for the Unitarian Universalist Community of Charlotte, a position he has held since 2007.

John was guest conductor for Charlotte’s One Voice Chorus at the 2008 GALA (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) International Conference in Miami, Florida, and he conducted the Mecklenburg Ministries 25th Anniversary Choir at the Belk Theater in 2012.

When he's not at the piano or directing, John enjoys cultivating his ever-expanding garden and immersing himself in the latest New York Times bestseller.
