Dawn Roof

Dawn was born and raised just north of Pittsburgh, PA, where her love of the arts started early and never really went away. She began singing in third grade and, by the time she graduated from high school, had performed in four musicals, three plays, and was also on stage crew for all of them to help build and paint the sets.

She went on to earn a BA in Graphic Design with a minor in Photography from La Roche University, proving fairly early that choosing just one creative outlet was probably never going to happen.
‍

After moving to Charlotte in 2003, Dawn worked for The Charlotte Observer and Springs Creative Products Group before opening her own photography studio. In 2011, she stepped away from professional work to start a family.
‍

Dawn joined Carolina Voices in 2020 as a singer with the MainStage choir. As tends to happen, singing eventually turned into helping, helping turned into doing, and doing turned into having her hands in a little bit of everything.
‍

Today, as Director of Creative and Production, Dawn works across graphic design and branding, website management, production planning, set design, and performance logistics. She is also heavily involved in the creative development of the Singing Christmas Tree, helping shape the visual direction of the show and coordinating many of the details that bring it from an idea to the stage.
‍

At Carolina Voices, Dawn has found a role that lets her bring together all of her creative passions and her love of singing. Which is probably easier than trying to pick just one!
