Colors of Song

Close your eyes and recall a beautiful sunset.  The rich pallet of reds, oranges, yellows and pinks melt into clouds of purples.  Exploring the notion that art is music in two dimensions, how would these colors sound?  The blending of colors and hues in visual art translates to the blending of voices in choral music.  Composers paint pallets of sound in blended harmonies.  If you close your eyes while listening to music, what do you see?  In Colors of Song, the Festival Singers concert will explore the sound of color with the music of composers including Eric Whitacre, James Mulholland and Irving Berlin and featuring We Can Mend the Sky by Jake Runestad.
